OBSCURITY, RAGE, DISSONANCE AND….
SONUM originates from the core of Death Metal but aims to transcend the boundaries of the genre. With an audacious and experimental approach, the band leads the listener through a musical labyrinth, where the dimensions of the inner universe dissolve into dystopian realities painted with anguish, despair, melancholy, and rage.
The band's primary influences lie within the darkest, most complex realms of Death Metal, drawing inspiration from bands like Nero di Marte, Ulcerate, Deathspell Omega, Gorguts, and Execration. However, SONUM's sound goes beyond this: the band explores the heavy atmospheres of Doom/Post-Rock and the avant-garde orchestrations of composers such as Stockhausen, Penderecki, and Mussorgsky, weaving these elements into interludes and arrangements that defy convention.
After two EPs and a debut full-length album, SONUM has reached a new level of maturity as a three-piece. This lineup shift has significantly impacted the compositional process, giving birth to a new phase in the band's evolution. The second full-length album, THE OBSCURE LIGHT AWAITS, due for release on April 11th via DUSKTONE, marks a defining moment in the band's journey n this album, chaotic atmospheres intertwine with ethereal interludes, dissonances collide with compelling melodies, and visionary lyrics—delving into the deepest labyrinths of the human soul—are unleashed by a new voice, imbuing the band's sound with a strong and ever-evolving personality.
Ready to delve into the darkest corners of the soul and confront the shadows lurking within the depths of the psyche, The Obscure Light Awaits promises to be an unmissable sonic experience for those seeking something unique and radical within the realm of extreme metal.
